Thai children learn in school how important it is to determine
at any time to which class a certain consonant belongs. For
this purpose they repeat mnemotechnic verse, of which there
are several for middle and high consonants. These two classes
together contain fewer characters than the low class, thus
it is easier to remember this. All consonants that not appear
here belong to the deep class automatically.
These mnemotechnic verse tell little stories that one can
easily memorize.
It is necessary in all cases, to
make slight concessions to the linguistic form and content
of the sentences. They fulfill their purpose, however.
